Things I Read to Stay Grounded

After yesterday’s post, I thought I’d share some of the blogs that I read to stay motivated and to keep me grounded. These blogs remind me that I’m me and keep me working toward my goals:

In no particular order:

The Clothes Make the Girl–Melicious is a Crossfitting, Paleo-eating, Duran-Duran loving superstar! Her blog is packed with funny, insightful, inspirational posts. One of my favorites is her recent post called Why I Lift Heavy Things

Urban Gets Diesel — Melissa Urban (of Whole9) once wrote this hilarious blog. Although she no longer posts on this site, it’s still a plethora of useful information conveyed in the funniest, most effective way possible.

A Runner’s Life— My actual, real-life friend writes this awesome blog about her running endeavors. She is a very talented runner who has completed multiple marathons– we were both on the Hamilton College Track team back in the day! She posts great training tips for runners and her puppy, Perri, could be the second cutest dog alive.

Alison’s Training Blog— Alison is an incredible athlete who posts her workouts every day. For me, just seeing the amount of weight she moves and her times on the WODs makes me want to get to the gym and give it my all! Alison also links to a bunch of other training blogs that are equally inspiring.

The Blogs of the Crossfit Central Ladies— The coaches of Crossfit Central in Austin, TX all have blogs, which I think is pretty cool! Most, if not all, of these women have competed in the Crossfit Games, and they’re all extremely accomplished athletes. I like to read about their training routines and watch their videos on the SicFit website. This is a link to their joint recipe blog, but there are links to all of their blogs in the sidebar.

SicFit–I have to admit: I don’t quite know exactly what SicFit is…but I do know that there are some great videos of Crossfit Women on this site…

Crossfit Southie— This is a newer Affiliate in the Boston area. I love the pictures they post with the WODs– and I also like their WODs. I try to model some of my own workouts after theirs.

Health for the Whole Self–Whenever I start to get down on myself, I can count on Katie to bring me back to reality. Check out this blog for a ton of information on body image, self esteem, intuitive eating and a whole bunch more!

I’m an Okie—  A lot of bloggers only post about the good, and omit the bad. Lisa is one of the most honest, real, healthy living bloggers out there! She tells it like it is and isn’t afraid to share her real life trials and tribulations.

Radical Hateloss— Another great blog with a bunch of posts on positive body image and accepting your body as it is.

I’m probably forgetting a few of the blogs I read regularly…but this is a good start!

    Thanks for the shout-out in your blog today! I’ve been reading your blog daily, and love the the content! I also have a few of your recipes on my list of “things that I must do” during my holiday vacation. Raw Coconut Peanut Butter Thumbprints and Spinach with Apples and Bacon….Mmmmmmmm! Anything with bacon is guaranteed deliciousness! 🙂

      You’re welcome! I really like your post today– I also love hearing how other people found “fitness”…whether it be Crossfit or something else…You’ve inspired me to start working on my handstand push-ups….I WILL be able to do more than one by the end of December…
