A Sauerkrauty Breakfast

I’ve been a fan of Diane at Balanced Bites for a few years now.

I love her brand, her posts, her recipes…

but I didn’t understand all of the sauerkraut.

I was kraut curious, but I guess I thought I wouldn’t like it…

Last week I was chatting with Coach J at Crossfit H2O, and she extolled the wonders of The Kraut.

I had to admit that I’d looked for it at Whole Foods, but I couldn’t find it.  I wandered around for about 20 minutes, passing the same Whole Foods Employees multiple times, but not asking for help because I get weirdly shy around strangers (I’m working on that).

Well, Coach J knew just where it was, and pointed me in the right direction.

SO. Long story short, I picked some up during my weekly shopping trip…and…

I’m in love.

Breakfast: spinach, an egg, some ham slices and Bubbie’s Sauerkraut.

This stuff is good. I have no idea why it took me so long to hop on this train.

Sauerkraut is a probiotic– meaning it has tons of healthy bacteria to help with digestion and replenish your intestinal flora.

Bubbies.com says  ” It is rich in Vitamin C and contains other important nutrients including iron, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, thiamin, riboflavin, fiber, and niacin.” It’s also on Dr. Chris Kesser’s list of “Top 14 foods that supply vital nutrients”

Increasing the amount of fermented foods in your routine can do wonders for your digestion, and your overall health. I can’t wait to see what the addition of sauerkraut to my day has in store for me…

It’s fun to eat foods that heal, isn’t it?
