Beat These 3 Energy Suckers and Feel Like a Superhero

PicMonkey Collage

I wish I felt good enough to (fill in the blank) after working all day.

I wish I had enough energy to (fill in the blank), but I’m just so tired when 5pm rolls around.

What would you put in that blank space?

“Play with my kids?”

“Cook dinner for my family?”

“Go to the gym?”

“Read a book for pleasure?”

What would you do if you had unlimited energy?

How would your life be different?

Would you feel like a superhero? Maybe.

Would you feel better than the dog pictured above? Definitely.

Unstable energy levels are not only a pain in the butt, they could indicate another, deeper problem like the onset of an autoimmune condition or your body working overtime to clear up some underlying inflammation.

There are lots of things in this modern world that can sap your energy.

Here are three energy suckers that might be causing your end-of-the-day low energy:

Nutrient Poor Foods.

Notoriously inflammatory, nutrient poor foods, like grains, legumes, dairy and added sugar can bog down your digestive system and lead to leaky gut and systemic inflammation. Your gut makes up 80% of your immune system. If you’re constantly subjecting your system to foods it can’t handle, then your immune system is constantly in overdrive—and it take a lot of energy to keep that up.

Negative Self-Talk.

Negative thoughts are draining. Being stuck in a negative thought pattern will slowly suck your life-force away. If you’re always focused on what’s going wrong, it doesn’t leave a lot of room for good things to happen to you.

An Imbalance in Primary Food®.

Primary food is not the food on your plate, but the non-food areas of your life that nourish you—your career, physical activity, spirituality and relationships are examples of Primary Food. If one of these areas is out of balance, it can pull everything out of balance.
