{Friday Musings} True Stress Relief

I’ve been thinking a lot about stress these past few weeks.

Mostly because it’s been a stressful past few weeks for me in my personal life.

Usually, working out is my stress relief.

But working out is also a form of stress.

Even though you may relieve your mental/emotional stress through exercise, exercise itself is a form of physical stress and can affect your body in the same way as emotional stress. So when you’re stressed out enough, exercising to release stress actually compounds it.

So instead of working out like a crazy person to release tension, I’ve been working out like a normal person and finding other ways to release my stress.

Doing my BePeace Practice whenever I feel my emotions creeping up.

Making sure to eat lots of nutrient dense foods to keep my immune system happy.

Focusing on my gratitude symbol and reflecting on everything that’s going well in my life.

Listening to my body and resting when I feel like it…attempting to take naps and going to bed earlier.

And, most importantly, remembering to be kind to myself and reminding myself that things are working out the way they are meant to be.

How do you relieve stress in the moment? Feel free to share your practices in the comments below.

Sounds familiar… I manifest most of my stress through my body and my stomach which usually means bad sleep on top of the toll stress takes and zero appetite. To manage stress, I try to make sure that my free time is truly structured around me and what I need to relax — whether it’s taking a long nap, visiting with my family and friends or just having quiet time.
