{Book Review} Against All Grain

My digestive issues were the real reason behind my first experimenting with a Paleo lifestyle.

When she was first diagnosed at a very young age (like early 20’s young), her doctors told her that there was no use in changing her diet– that food couldn’t cure her autoimmune disease.

After too much time in the hospital, including a near death experience from her ulcerative colitis, Danielle discovered the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and Paleo. Through these lifestyles she was able to eventually completely stop her flares and relieve all of her symptoms.

Against All Grain is a cookbook designed to give hope to and inspire those that are forced to give up their favorite foods to preserve their health.

Danielle takes you under her wing and shares how you can still eat the foods you love without sacrificing your health with delicious grain-free, dairy-free recipes.

I’m completely in love with the Slow Cooker Sesame Orange Chicken.

It was amazing– as someone who doesn’t eat Asian food (aside from sashimi) because I’m never sure what’s in the ingredients, it was wonderful to recreate something I would order at a restaurant. So good.

I found this cookbook to be particularly inspirational.

I can’t imagine what it must be like to learn that you have to give up your favorite foods or you may become seriously ill. This book takes away the fear of having to overhaul your lifestyle to keep your health. Danielle holds your hand through breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert, and makes it so you will never miss the foods you loved.
