I have a confession:
I might be obsessed with shoes.
Not just any shoe.
A very specific type of shoe.
And it’s not the type of show you may think.
Back in the day, I used to be obsessed with heels. I would buy a new pair almost weekly…
But then I discovered Crossfit.
And everything changed.
Heels lost their appeal.
And I became obsessed with Nanos.
Reebok Nanos to be exact.
I remember when they first came out…and I remember pining away for them until M said:
Crossfit is your sport– you should probably have some of those Nanos because they’re designed specifically for your sport. Basketball players wear basketball shoes, so why shouldn’t you wear Crossfit shoes?
I took what he said to heart…and my obsession grew from there.
As you can see, I have quite a few pairs. All the way from Nano 2.0s to the newest member of the family, the Reebok Crossfit Nano 4.o.
And let me tell you, the Nano 4.0s are my favorite thus far.
Not only are they super comfortable and functional, they’re pretty good looking if I do say so.
I tested them side by side with my Nano 3.0s…because I’m a nerd…and here is what I noticed:
The Reebok Nano 4.0s are lighter and more streamlined.
They feel like just enough shoe to get the job done. Reebok re-engineered the duracage and changed the mesh so that the shoe could be lighter.
I feel like they moved with my foot better than other workout shoes. They’re less clunky than the Nano 3.0s.
The new mesh design really let my feet breath…so my socks didn’t get as sweaty.
These shoes have the most stable platform of any of the Nanos– I could really tell on moves like pistols and box jumps– I was able to plant my foot and feel like I had a nice, hard surface to press off of.
I wore these shoes for a WOD with heavier lifts, running and bodyweight movements, then I biked home from the gym and they were great for everything. AND I only got distracted by their beauty once during Toes to Bar.
I just liked the looks of them better.
I have pretty big feet for a not so tall person, and I often don’t buy certain sneakers because they make my feel look like clown feet. I loved the colors of the new Nanos and the way they redesigned the shoe is really flattering to larger feet…because I really do worry about that kind of thing.
Overall, I would have to say that I like the new Nano 4.0 the best out of all of the Reebok Nano family. The Nano 4.0 is a light, flexible, streamlined shoe that gets the job done. I feel more stable wearing them for heavier lifts, and lighter on my feet in bodyweight movements.
